Redeker Dining Center

Dining Center Renovation

The Department of Residence at the University of Northern Iowa desired a transformation of this 61,100 square foot, two-story dining center. Once a traditional cafeteria, there is now a market place servery, a true Marche’ experience that purposely blurs the line between serving and dining. The building is located in the middle of a large quadrangle formed by four residence halls and connected to each at the upper level by pedestrian bridges. Located on a major pedestrian thoroughfare, the facility acts as a social gathering place for the campus at large, offering a variety of after hour functions, including a cyber cafĂ©, soda fountain, entertainment center, convenience store, and computer lab. The building also houses the central bakery and produce preparation center for the campus, and the Department of Residence administrative offices.
